Exciting Things To Come In 2019

Wow, what an exciting year in 2018 we have had. I think Clare and I would agree that this has been the best year since we got married, probably of our entire lives. What a difference having a baby has made to our lives. I can still remember so vividly the day he was born and how everything went, helped of course by writing it up in this blog!

As we ended 2018 though it’s nice to think about what we have to look forward to in 2019.

First Birthday

Exciting things to come in 2019
He’s had his first birthday already!

Of course this year begins with the first birthday of our baby boy. I wonder at what point you stop calling your baby a “baby” and instead call them a “child”, or I guess a “toddler”. I guess they’re a toddler when they start walking, or toddling about as it were. What do you think? Apparently ‘officially’ they’re a toddler when they are one but I struggle to think that when he isn’t ‘toddling’ along…

I think that makes sense to call them a toddler when they’re walking about, in which case the time you call them that changes for each parent. Though, some babies walk at a very young age, like 9 months, which seems young to become a toddler based on that definition. Anyway, I’m going off on one there, enough about nomenclature!

So, back to the point anyway of the fact it’s his first birthday this year. We’ve had his first birthday now as you can see in this post I recently wrote. He saw loads of family, grandparents, uncles, aunties and cousins. He had a fantastic birthday party, got some great presents and some money for a play house in the summer.

I’ve Gone Part Time

Not so much a SAHD (that’s Stay At Home Dad) but more of a PTSAHD (Part Time…you get the idea).

Looking forward to 2019
The first home artwork from N

I started being part time in the New Year (every Friday). Clare and I have been thinking of this for a while. We are very equal in what we do with N as much as we can and we wanted this to continue once Clare went back to work.

So now I only have to decide what to do on these days! I almost find there’s so many options I just can’t decide what to do. The first Dad and lad day started with some artwork and then a trip to the local farm to go look at some animals.

Holidays

By now, if you’ve read my blog, you’ll know we love going on holiday.

We love our holidays

We have three booked already! I know we are fortunate but we work hard so you’ve got to play hard as the saying goes. They’re all in the UK so it’s easier with a baby.

Our first is to Center Parcs which we love. We went there this year but it’ll be so different next year with N being older. Hopefully there are a lot of activities that N can do whilst there.

Then we are off to Northern Ireland to explore around there a bit, maybe go to some Game of Thrones locations! I’ve never been there before but I’m really looking forward to exploring Northern Ireland. We are driving over there using the ferry so we can get everywhere we want to easily with little N.

Finally we are off back to Seahouses in Northumberland as a celebration for my Dad’s birthday with all the family. N will get so much attention he will love it! His cousins love spending time with N and vice versa.

His Development

I can’t wait to see how he develops throughout 2019. I know that the first 12 months are when most developments take place in our bodies, more than they ever will for the rest of our lives. However, I expect the second year will have some amazing and fantastic developments too.

I look forward to when he’s walking and running around. I’m in no rush for it though as it means Clare and I will be running around more too!

I really love hearing him chatter away and say some words we can understand. They do say babies are either walkers or talkers, and he’s definitely a talker! He’s going to come out with so many words and sayings next year it’ll be hilarious.

Then we’ve found a football group that takes babies from 18 months. It’s probably a bit young for him but it will interesting to see, and he could start towards the back end of 2019.

Every Single Day

What exciting things are there to come in 2019? Realistically every single day is going to be exciting. Every day.

Who knows what each day will bring? What could he bring home from nursery? What could he do that’s different? What new thing could we do as a family?

The possibilities are huge, and I can’t wait to see what happens.
